mode has to match the price. Recurring prices need mode 'subscription', one-time prices need mode 'payment'. Read price.type and choose the mode from it rather than hardcoding.

The mirror case reads: You must provide at least one recurring price in `subscription` mode when using prices. Metered prices must also omit quantity on the line item.
